Governor Leadership Programme
A programme of professional development sessions for governors of all types of school organisations

LTSA is working in close partnership with the National Governors’ Association (NGA) to provide a programme of training sessions for governors/trustees in all types of school organisations (maintained schools, academies, MATs). The programme focuses on areas identifiedasbeingkey to the maintenance and development of effectivegovernancepractice.
The programme has been designed to respond to the Ofsted Inspection Handbook (September 2015) that states that inspectors judge the effectivenessofgovernorsindischargingtheircore statutory functions and that they are committed to their own development as governors in order to improve their performance.
The programme links closely with the January 2017 Governance Handbook and the Competency Handbook for Governance.
Session 1 & 12:
This session is aimed at the Chair of Governors/Trustees in a school/academy who is ideally accompanied by another governor. The session will allow a self-evaluation/review tool to be introduced and shared with delegates for them to use in their setting. The outcomes of the self-evaluation will allow a school/academy to identify gaps in their provision and allow for development planning to secure strong governance
Sessions 2-11:
A series of Development Workshops focusing on a number of key areas to secure strong governance. See over for more details
Training will be delivered by a National Leader of Governance/NGA Consultant
